According to a recent public service announcement published by The Register, Microsoft has announced a new pricing structure for commercial customers who wish to continue receiving security updates for Windows 10 after the official support period concludes. Effective immediately, Microsoft will impose a fee of $61 per device for the first year following the end of support. This fee is set to increase significantly in subsequent years, doubling each year for a total of three years.

It is important for organizations to understand that they cannot simply opt to forgo payments in the initial years with the hope of saving costs, as the security updates are cumulative in nature. This means that if an organization chooses not to pay in the first year, they will still need to pay for all previous updates in order to maintain their systems’ security in the following years.

Furthermore, there are some options available that may allow certain users to avoid incurring these fees. Specifically, if users connect their Windows 10 endpoints to Windows 365 Cloud PCs, they may be exempt from these additional charges.

Additionally, the program also extends to Windows 10 virtual machines that operate on Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop. For organizations with an active Windows 365 subscription, they will be able to access security updates for their virtual machines for the same three-year period without incurring the aforementioned fees. This offers a potential avenue for businesses looking to maximize their investment in Microsoft services while ensuring the ongoing security of their systems. hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc hMc
